Team Selection Nights 2021-22

The club invites new and returning members to participate for the club in the Leeds & District Badminton League 

Team selection nights for the mixed and men's teams will be held on :

Tuesday 7th September - Mens

Thursday 9th September - Mixed

Tuesday 14th September tbc

The nights will run from 7.30pm until 9.30pm on both courts. They will be run as before with selection committee organising games on each court with 1 stamp required as payment. We've decided not to have a ladies selection night.

It is expected that all players wishing to play in a team will attend at least one of the selection evenings. If you cannot attend then can you please email me directly as to whether you want to play ladies, men's or mixed.

Currently we have 3 mixed teams, 3 men's teams, 1 ladies' team registered.

Roundhegians Rugby and Badminton AGM - What do you think?
It is Roundhegians Rugby and Badminton AGM soon and we need to know what badminton members think, in order to represent you.
A few issues have come up:
-  How do badminton members know the club rules?
-  How we know who current members are - and police that?
-  What do our members feel about the proposed membership price increase (up to £80 in Sept 2016)?
-  There is a new need to have a membership card to get a bar discount.
- Proposal to change format of league games.

Please let us know what you think!  Badminton members are meeting at the clubhouse on Tuesday 6th April at 8pm, so please come along and make your views known.

Team Selection 2015/16

Team selection nights will commence on Tuesday September 8th at 8pm and continue on Tuesday 15th and Tuesday 22nd September.  Teams this year are 2 mixed, 2 mens and 1 ladies teams. 

Come down to get your early season practice in and look to secure your spot in the team. 

THURSDAY, 17th SEPTEMBER 2015 at 8.00 PM

The AGM is an important date for your calendar, and is an opportunity for all badminton members to hear how the club is progressing and to air their views and make a contribution into the future plans of your club.

THE COMPETITION IS HANDICAPPED AND PARTNERS WILL BE RANDOMLY DRAWN.

THIS IS A FUN COMPETITION BASED ON A ROUND ROBIN FORMAT.

If you feel so inclined it is usual for participants to dress in Christmas attire or wear any novelty headwear.

IT WILL ONLY COST YOU £2.00 PLEASE ADD YOUR NAME TO THE LIST IN THE BADMINTON HALL

Badminton Committee Meeting - 8.30pm on Tuesday 19th August 2014 at the Clubhouse.

All members are encouraged to attend.

29/09/14 - With effect from Monday 6th October, the door to the sports hall and the external badminton entrance will be locked using a code. The code will be sent to badminton members who have submitted an e-mail address with their membership form. If you are a current member and need to provide/update your e-mail address, please contact the Subscriptions Secretary on di_bennett@sky.com
 
The code will be shared with rugby and karate senior members, as well as club support staff.

07/09/14 - There is Ladies practice every Friday night at 8:00pm. For further information please contact Claire Welling or any member of the commitee who will be able to provide you with more information.

28/08/14 - Selection for the mixed and mens teams starts on Tuesday 2nd September at 8pm and runs for 5 weeks. If you are interested in playing please come down to as many nights as possible. There are sign-up sheets on the noticeboard in the badminton hall and I would be grateful if you could also put your details on these if you want to play. We will need a mix of full-time team members and subs so please indicate which you would like to be considered for.

We're always looking for new players, so if you're interested in joining for this coming season come on down.

21/7/14 - The courts will not be available for play tomorrow morning (Tuesday 22nd July 2014) due to maintenance work on the ambirad heaters.

12/9/13 - The price rise for court booking stamps will take effect from Wednesday 2nd October 2013 at 10pm.

24/6/13 - Unfortunately, due to increases in fixed costs (lighting, heating etc.), with effect from 1st October 2013 the cost of court booking stamps will increase from £1.70 to £2.00. Please remember you must put the correct amount of coins in the stamp machine as it does not give change (£1, 50p, 20p and 10p coins accepted).

18/6/13 - Would like to be a member of our selection committee? We're currently recruiting for a chairperson and 2 committee members. The requirements for the role is minimal as we intend to field 1 mixed team this year. Please contact judithmiller51@hotmail.com if you are interested.

29/04/13 - The badminton courts will be closed from Monday 20th May to Friday 24th May inclusive. The floor is being resurfaced.

19/02/13 - There's some re-surfacing work being done on the car park today, so please park off site, so that the new surface can harden properly.

20/12/12 - A copy of the fixtures for the second half of the season has been added to the Fixtures and Results section. Here's to a strong finish!

19/11/12 - The driveway to the club is being resurfaced this week. Start and end time for the work will depend on when the contractor finishes his current job, but hopefully Tuesday 20th Nov.

If you find the gates closed when you come to the club this week, please do not use the drive/car park.

28/9/12 - Along with the new membership season, we will be changing the lock for the door to the sports hall on the afternoon of Monday 1st October 2012. New keys are available for collection on the following club nights:

Keyholders are reminded that they will only be eligible for new key once they have paid their membership for the 2012-13 season.

24/8/12 - Selection for the mixed teams starts on Tuesday 28th August at 8pm and runs for 3 weeks. If you are interested in playing please come down to as many nights as possible. 23/8/12 - Apologies to the regular Saturday evening customers, but we cannot open the clubhouse on 25 August because we have been unable to find substitute bar staff - there are so many going to Wembley for the Rhinos Cup Final appearance.
The Yorkshire Shield game v Skipton originally scheduled for the afternoon has been postponed so there will be NO special afternoon opening either.
Full Saturday service resumes 1 September.

05/7/12 - Roundhegians Badminton Club will be fielding 3 mixed doubles team in the Leeds & District Badminton League this coming season. More details will follow in August about how you can get involved in pre-season training and team selection nights.

30/10/11 - Calling all members, volunteers required to assist with juniors class.

For many years we have successfully run a Saturday morning junior section. Many of those 'Juniors' now grace the club nights and have played in the Senior League Teams. However, this facility is a little stretched at the moment due to one or two volunteers leaving recently after many much appreciated years and we could do with some extra help.

Could you spare a small amount of time to help with the juniors on Saturday mornings? You do not need any qualifications or previous experience, just a willingness to help out. You would not be on your own and volunteers are not asked to help more than 6 times a year. If you are interested, either talk to me or better still pop down on a Saturday morning and see what goes on.

06/07/11 - The painting of the hall has been completed. Both courts are available again as normal.

31/05/11 - The badminton hall is to be repainted. The painting will start on Monday 20th June and last for approx 2 weeks.  Both courts will be closed during the day (except for Zumba classes on a Friday morning) for the 2 weeks. 
 
Regarding club nights, one court will be left free throughout the 2 weeks as Stafford will push the scaffolding to one side
