Our courts

Roundhegians badminton club is a well established club situated in Chelwood Drive, off Street Lane, Leeds 8. We have 2 purpose built wooden sprung floor badminton courts in a large hall. Club nights are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8.00pm, Sundays from 7.30pm. (Sunday nights are mainly for the more accomplished players and league players and feather shuttles are used). The other 2 nights are mixed ability players and plastic feathers are used. Clubs nights operate all year round. When the courts are not being utilised on club nights or for league matches, members can book courts for their own use for practice sessions or social play. Social and league are all welcome.

Playing rules

Roundhegians Badminton Club expects its members to uphold and observe the playing rules:

1. Visitors are allowed 3 visits before they must join as members. These can either be club nights or signed in by a member for a court booking. This is in total, not per year. Visitors to a club night are required to buy 2 stamps, for a court booking they are still required to pay a visiting stamp, in addition to the usual court booking fee. The full name of the visitor must be put in the visitors’ file along with the additional stamp. It is incumbent upon members to check the file when inviting visitors to check how many times they have been signed in. Any member found to be inviting visitors over and above their 3 visits can have their membership withdrawn without a refund of their membership fee.

2. Entry to the sports hall requires a code for the door lock. Only paid up full members who submit an e-mail address (either on their membership form or separately to the membership secretary) will receive this code. The door code will be changed every 3 months, or as required, and this will be sent out to all full members.

3. Non-marking soles only to be worn on the courts. These must be clean and not have been worn outside.

4. Changing facilities are available. Please ask a present member to open the relevant door if needed.

5. Entry to the Club Bar is from the car park or through the door next to the Men's changing rooms.

6. Members may book courts by purchasing stamps and placing them on the booking sheet at the required date and time, prior to play commencing.

7. Club nights take place on Monday and Wednesday throughout the year from 8pm til 10pm. Sunday club night is from 7.30pm til 10pm. Feather shuttles are used only on Sunday club nights. Monday and Wednesday cost £2 (1 stamp), Sundays cost £4 (2 stamps). Stamps are to be placed in the book before play.

8. The club has 3 mixed teams, 3 mens teams and 1 ladies team in the Leeds & District League. These may change subject to the number of players wishing to play. Team selection occurs in September, by a selection committee. Players unable to attend selection nights must express their interest in playing, and for which teams. Teams will be selected where possible a minimum of two weeks before the date of the first match. Matches commence at 7.30pm on two courts, and from 8.30pm members may book ones of the courts for their own play.

9. Junior badminton sessions are held on Saturday mornings from 9.30am to 1.00pm.

10. Membership of the club is subject to timely payment of membership fees and match fees as applicable. Membership fees are due by the 1st September. Any member that has not paid

their annual subscription by 1st October will not be permitted to play in a team until it is paid.
